Looking for a quick and inexpensive way to freshen up your home for the holidays? While new windows and/or a new roof can transform the look of your home, a good way to update on a small budget is to just add paint. Painting is one of the easiest and most economical ways to transform the look and feel of your home. Not sure if you want to go bright and bold or light and airy? Try Benjamin Moore’s Personal Color Viewer®.
Unlike other sites, you don’t have to use a template or fake room that looks nothing like your home. You can upload a photo of the room you want to paint and try on different colors. Think of it as a virtual dressing room for interior design. The application is free (however you must create an account), easy to use and a great tool when you are decorating your home. Not only do you get to see what the color will look like in that room but you can also coordinate it with your furniture and décor.
Here’s How to Get Started:
1. Set up a free account online.
2. Upload the photo of your desired room (minimum of 1200×1200 resolution).
3. Use the brush or area tools to highlight the areas you want to paint.
4. Select your colors.
5. Take a look at your fresh new room.
Keep in mind that the colors will look a little different on the screen than they will in your home however; you will be able to get an idea of the shade you are interested in. This make is it really easy to do quick updates to your home without taking too much risk.
As someone in the process of closing on my first home, I have become obsessed with seeing which colors look best in each room. What about you? Is this a tool that you find useful?
